Yes. When using the Card Reader , your smartphone or tablet needs to be connected to a 3G, 4G, or WiFi network.

For the Terminal, you connect to an available WiFi network. It automatically switches over to 3G or 4G if WiFi is out of range. A pre-loaded SIM card is included and pre-installed at no cost.*

*Provision of hardware and SIM card is subject to our delivery terms. Note: The SIM card can only be used in the PayPal Terminal and not in any other device.

Both devices are all-in-one solutions that don’t need to be paired with a phone. The difference is the built-in scanner.

The convenient scanner can help simplify your workday:

• Reduce checkout time by scanning products. No need to browse your library.
• Update your inventory, scan incoming retail stock, and do year-end stock count on the go.
• Quickly check to see if an item is in stock.

The Terminal can be connected to PayPal-supported printers provided that it’s on the same network as the printer.

Cash drawers can be connected via PayPal-supported printers.
